Tim,
During all my career overseas with LBI, I heard mention of Tim Oxton's name, but never had the good fortune to meet him. At one time or another I think I met most of your colleagues, but not you. It was therefore with great pleasure that within 2 months of rejoining IBD, I should meet both you and Anna in the heat of Panama.
The trip to the Canal and Spanish fortress was an added bonus.
I wish both you and Anna a very happy retirement together.
Best Wishes
Steve Blagden

Dear Tim
It has been a pleasure to know you. I have good memories of the time a group of us went to Taboga Island near Panama City and all got sunburnt REAL bad.
Your wealth of knowledge, stories and experiences within the bank will be missed.
All the best for the future and enjoy your retirement. If you are in London, give us a call.

Tim Oxton
The Peter Ustinov of Lloyds Bank. Raconteur, wit, and general man about town (even the World). Tim has been there, done it and bought the T-Shirt (XXL). Never lost for words, in fact never lost for anything. If you forgot something on an audit, young Oxton would have one in his case - it may have been a bit battered but he would have it. Judging by his always ruddy boyish complexion I suspect in a little bit of Max Factor was also present in his case!!
Always there in the thick of it, Tim was like Alan Knott (Kent wicketkeeper), catching anything that went past the younger auditors. His love of cricket was something we had in common unlike are breakfast habits. This man has to be given the title of 'All English freestyle breakfast eating champion 1975 to 1999'. I was very nervous on my first audit with Tim, so much so that I spent most of the first morning having bowel movements which he would have classed as High Risk.. had they been assessed. It took all my effort to walk into the breakfast room and not return to the loo on seeing his plate choc-a-block full of assorted cheeses, hams and fried sausages and the time only 6.45am....
Of the audits themselves you could not of wished for more help and encouragement. Although his instance on a perfectly written report resulted in many a thrown scrap of A4 hitting a wall at a speed that even Brian Lara would have found difficult to hit. However, for all his help on our trips together I would like to thank him again.
Finally I would also like to say that a letter he wrote trying to prolong my stay in Computer Audit was one of the nicest compliments I have ever received from anyone and just sums up what a nice guy he is.
I could say a few more things but he has got away with them over the years and now is not the time to ask him for the fiver he owes me for a cab fare we took in Madrid - but still we shouldn't have been there in that part of town in the first place!!!!!
Best wishes

Good luck in your retirement Tim

Tim (or should I say AT)
Wishing you all the best for a long and happy retirement. I remember fondly our time auditing together in Frankfurt and Brussels. Especially the evenings sitting outside the Bars in the Grand Place. I will never forget who I was with when Diana, Princess of Wales died, and celebrating my 7th Wedding Anniversary with you rather than my Tim in Brussels.
best wishes

Estimado Timothy.
¡¡No lo creo!! You have decided finally to break the shackles - unbelievable!!
Congratulations on lasting the course (more than I managed). You have made a considerable contribution to the Bank's overseas operations and I know that you will be missed. Do keep in touch with your many friends abroad.
Thank you so much for your very patient and understanding guidance in my early Inspection days. I really enjoyed our trips together (sorry to have embarrassed you with my umbrella!) Your constant challenges and provocation made life much more interesting and enjoyable.
Have a great time now; learn to relax!!
Very best wishes for many happy years ahead with your family around you. If you are in the country at the right time, I look forward to joining you when Essex and Yorkshire meet.

Tim, of all the many retirement messages I have sent over the last few years, this is the first one which has ever been requested by e-mail. However, for a computer auditor I can only say this is most fitting and I am sure you would want nothing else. Incidentally, it is encrypted in transmission, so I trust you will be able to read at the other end.
I can honestly say I have really enjoyed chatting to you in the Lombard Street canteen about your experiences in Latin America and elsewhere and the way you managed to convey the local culture.
However, time moves on and I wish you and your wife all the best for a long and happy retirement plus perhaps a spot of consultancy in exotic places to liven things up.
Best wishes,
Roger Jones
